The combination of chocolate and chili peppers is traditional in Latin American cooking. The addition of chocolate mellows the heat of the chili while allowing the fruitiness of the pepper to come through. In a pot of chili, the flavor will be hot and spicy. In a nut or seed-based molé, however, the heat is mellowed significantly. Chocolate Chili can also be used in desserts, such as brownies, chocolate cookies or truffles.
